Using the Network Diagnostic Utility

The Network Diagnostic utility checks the network connectivity of your Markforged device and generates a plaintext log of any errors encountered during the scan. The error log can then be exported from the printer to a USB drive or downloaded to your computer.

If your printer experiences connectivity problems, use the utility to generate a log file, then submit a ticket to Markforged Support. Attach the log file to the ticket.


Running the Utility

  1. Select the menu icon from the dashboard.


  2. Select Utilities from the menu options.

  3.  Select Network Diagnostics from the menu options.

  4. Press Next.

  5. The utility will confirm that the printer is able to connect to the Eiger server. The process should take less than a minute to complete. 
  6. Press Done to exit the utility.


Sharing the Log File

To share the log file with Markforged Support, you must first download it from the printer to your computer, either via USB drive or through the printer's Device Info page in Eiger.


Downloading the Log File via Eiger

Note that this option is only available for devices that operate online.

  1. Log in to your Eiger organization.
  2. Select Printers or Devices from the sidebar.
  3. Select the printer in question to navigate to its Device Info page.
  4. Click the Download Logs button in the top right corner of the page. The log file will download directly to your computer.


Transferring the Log File via USB Drive

  1. Insert a FAT32-formatted USB drive into the printer's USB port.
  2. Select the menu icon from the dashboard.

  3. Navigate to Storage > Save Logs. The log file will be saved to the root directory of the USB drive.

  4. After removing the USB drive from the printer, insert it into your computer and transfer the log file to the computer.
