Fiber Extruder Replacement


Goals:

 

 

Unloading Fiber

Before removing the fiber extruder, make sure to unload any fiber or plastic that is currently loaded into the printer.

To unload fiber from your printer:

  1. Press the menu button in the upper right corner of the LCD screen on your printer.



  2. Select the "Materials" tile from the menu options.



  3. Select the "Unload Fiber" tile to run the unload fiber routine.



  4. Press "Next" on the screen to disable the fiber extruder.



  5. Using a piece of tape, secure the fiber to the inside wall of the fiber spool at the point where the fiber comes off of the spool and enters the Fiber Feed Tube
  6. Clip the fiber just below the end of the Fiber Feed Tube.
  7. Grasp the cut end of fiber below the Fiber Feed Tube. Pull it free of the printer, and discard.
  8. Press "Done" on the LCD screen of your printer.

Note: Do NOT attempt to respool fiber from the printer back on to the fiber spool. This will result in damage to the fiber that will render it unusable in your printer.

Removing the Fiber Extruder

To remove the fiber extruder from your printer:

  1. Ensure materials are unloaded and turn off your printer.
  2. Use a 2mm Allen wrench to slightly unscrew the top left bolt on the fiber extruder.
    Note: Do not unscrew the bolt all the way. It should require not more than one full turn to loosen



  3. Remove the Fiber Bowden Tube from the extruder.
  4. Disconnect the 3-wire power connector from the PCB on the top of fiber extruder.
  5. Using the 2.5mm Allen wrench, loosen the four bolts which secure the fiber extruder to the printer chassis.
    Note: The bracket on the extruder has keyhole slots so the extruder can slide out without the bolts being removed.



  6. Disconnect the 3-wire power connector from the left side of the fiber extruder.
  7. Use a 2mm Allen wrench to slightly unscrew the top right bolt on the fiber extruder.
    Note: Do not unscrew the bolt all the way. It should require not more than one full turn to loosen
  8. Remove the Fiber Entry Tube from the extruder.
  9. Remove the fiber extruder.

Reinstalling the Fiber Extruder

To reinstall the fiber extruder to your printer:

  1. Plug in the 3-wire and 4-wire power connectors into the correct ports and make sure they are plugged in all the way.
  2. Place and tighten the four bolts that connect the base of the extruder to the chassis.
  3. Insert and secure the Fiber Bowden Tube and Fiber Feed Tube.
  4. Reload fiber by using the "Load Fiber" routine on your printer.
